It took almost six years to prepare the whole skeleton, but when it was done, it delivered a body that was 65 percent complete, making it a superb research subject. The genus was named in 1986, halfway through the preparation of the skeleton, when it became evident that it was a previously unknown form of theropod dinosaur. The name Baryonyx alludes to the size of its claws. It was once thought to be a dromaeosaur, similar to Velociraptor, with the claw attributed to its toe; however, the claw was subsequently shown to belong to the finger. Since its discovery, Baryonyx remnants (mainly teeth) have been discovered all throughout the United Kingdom and the Iberian Peninsula. As of 1998, the species Baryonyx tenerensis was reclassified into a new genus, Suchomimus, with Baryonyx walkeri being the only representative of the genus. Because fish scales were discovered in its stomach, it is thought to have been piscivorous, eating on fish; it is also thought to have dined on land-dwelling creatures such as Iguanodon.
Season two
Grim was a Baryonyx held in Jurassic World, where she forged a deep friendship with members of her species Chaos and Limbo. Grim was transferred to a medical clinic on the island at some time, and was finally abandoned there after the Jurassic World Incident caused the island to be abandoned. Within days, Limbo and Chaos escaped their home and went in search of Grim, bringing them to the facility after park survivors Brooklynn, Darius Bowman, and Sammy Gutierrez discovered it. While Chaos was attempting to liberate their packmate, Limbo attacked the humans, causing a herd of Stegosaurus to fight Limbo and compel Chaos to back them up. The couple tried to frighten off the herbivores but were unsuccessful until Darius liberated Grim and the pack worked together to drive off the herd. Following this meeting, Sammy gave each Baryonyx a name.
