There are no right or wrong methods to make a map. The first rule of every D&D game is to have fun. Whether a map is constructed using pencil and paper or computer-aided drawing software, the map's purpose is to complement what your player is doing. The experience will be made or broken by YOU, the person leading them on the adventure.
