The sport of ice hockey is a team sport played on an ice surface. In order to win a game, you must toss the puck into the opposite team's net more times than they do. In order to pass the puck around the rink, players use hockey sticks. The winning team is the one with the most pucks thrown into the other team's net. Ice Hockey's Origins
It would be nice to have three forwards, but it would need playing three in the center or back, and my player strengths don't allow this. In summary, I don't think I have a CH / CM powerful enough to handle three in the center, and I'm not certain that other players' off-the-ball support is good enough to enable three in the middle..........
Offensive strategies involve moving the puck out of one's own zone and into the opponent's zone by gaining lines, first your own blue line, then the red line, and lastly the opponent's blue line, in order to improve a team's ice position. The offside rule was modified in the NHL for the 2006 season, allowing players to transfer the puck from behind their own blue line to a player on the near side of their opponent's blue line, beyond both their own blue line and the center red line. In order to score a goal, the purpose of offensive tactics is to get a shot off. The term "shooting the puck" refers to a player intentionally directing the puck toward the opposing goal.
