Following the success of the debut album, Albarn and Hewlett briefly considered making a Gorillaz theatrical film, but Hewlett claimed the duo later lost interest: "We lost interest as soon as we started meeting with studios and talking to these Hollywood executives; we just weren't on the same page. We decided, screw it, we'll wait on the concept till we can do it ourselves and perhaps get the money ourselves." [35] [edit] Demon Days (2004â07)

On their album âPlastic Beach,â the cartoon band, formed by Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett, tackled the theme of environmentalism and the degradation of the Earth, an irony that hasnât been missed on their followers. âim honestly very sorry and saddened by gorillaz performing NFTs,â commented one Twitter user. âThey wrote a whole album about the environment 10 years ago, but now donât hesitate to do anything that contributes to the destruction of the environment in order to gain money.
The Now and Now (2018-19) [edit]
Albarn resumed recording while on the road for the Humanz Tour, and told Q Magazine in September 2017 that he planned to release the material on a future Gorillaz album. When compared to The Fall, which was also recorded while the band was on tour, Albarn said, "It will be a more comprehensive record than The Fall, but hopefully have that spontaneity." [93] Albarn expressed a desire to finish and release the album as soon as possible, saying, "I really enjoy the notion of writing new music and performing it live nearly simultaneously" and, "If we're going to do more Gorillaz, we don't want to wait seven years because, y'know, we're getting on a bit now." [93] The band then performed a new song, "Idaho," which was ultimately featured on the album, during a performance in Seattle on September 30, 2017, with Albarn claiming it was composed only a few days before. sberrodin 28th of December, 2021 Report on Caret Ban I'm quite pleased with the boxset. I'm accustomed to changing my records with mofi covers, so any concerns people have with that are insignificant to me. I have very few complaints about what is offered and how it is included. You'll never be able to satisfy everyone in the era of YouTube and freely accessible demos, and I get that, but I believe focusing on all the many remixes and LP's available from this time rather than a lot of demos like you could find on a Beatles boxset was a sensible option. It's not flawless, but it's a nice collector's item, and I hope they produce more for future albums.
