They immediately go to Annabeth's father to arrange transportation to the Garden of Hesperides. When they reach the summit of the mountain, they encounter Atlas, who is revealed to be the general, and Artemis, who had been holding up the sky. Atlas, Luke, and their men are attacked by Percy and the gang. When Percy most needs his sword in the battle, his sword hand fails him and the memory of Ares' curse from the Lightning Thief comes to mindâso he quickly attempts to find a method to be helpful in the fight and then takes the Burden from Artemis and enables her to fight in his place.
Weapons
Percy's primary weapon is Anaklusmos ("Riptide"), a heavenly bronze sword given to him by Chiron the centaur on Poseidon's orders; the blade's history dates back to Heracles,[14], who was given the sword by the nymph Zo« Nightshade, a daughter of Atlas. Riptide can transform into a ballpoint pen with its name etched on it when it is not a sword. When it is lost, it returns in the character's pocket. It will damage gods, demigods, and monsters since it is composed of heavenly bronze, yet it will just pass through humans. Percy has also employed his brother Tyson's magical javelins, Charles Beckendorf's magically camouflaging armor, and Carter Kane's wand. [12] [2] [15] His half-brother Tyson gifts him a wristwatch that transforms into a shield covered with designs in The Sea of Monsters, but the watch is broken in The Titan's Curse and lost in The Battle of the Labyrinth.
