Chaos would have stayed securely contained inside the Master Emerald had it not been for Doctor Eggman, who, after reading ancient echidna manuscripts concerning the beast, determined that the prudent course of action would be to release Perfect Chaos and employ it as a weapon. Eggman shattered the Master Emerald, allowing Chaos 0 to be released. He immediately began acquiring Chaos Emeralds in order to feed the water deity he believed he could control. The heroes strive to thwart Chaos's scheme, but in the end, Chaos escapes Dr Eggman's influence and obtains the seventh Emerald for himself.
