The hallway was empty and silent as Zim continued on his now-familiar path. His gaze momentarily brushed the still-unrepaired hole in the air duct that he had caused almost a week ago, but he did not pause. He had assumed he would never return to Ms Xander's office when he left that day. Not in that room, and perhaps not even in Hi Skool. He had been thinking of blowing up the whole globe. Or to just abandon it and never look back. He'd felt furious and empty all at the same time. He felt like he was about to explode, and he was determined to take the whole cosmos with him. Things had changed drastically. His life had been flipped upside down again in a couple of days, and the most bizarre thing was that he had to credit the same order that had caused him to lash out for the new, far more pleasant alteration. Dib, the self-proclaimed "Savior of the Earth," has made it his primary duty to prevent Zim from taking over the planet.
Throughout the first several episodes, Dib sees Zim as a genuine danger and refers to his presence on Earth as a "reign of terror." He does, however, relax a little when it becomes clear that Zim is completely inept. He still tries to stop Zim, but it's more for the purpose of catching Zim and proving that he isn't mad.
